Morning Light, Northcott Mouth

Morning Light, Northcott Mouth

Painted very early one July morning last summer. I trundled down from the car park with my big fishing box, paints and canvas and just sat and watched the sea for a long time before I started. The sun was only just rising up behind me and catching the underside of the waves. It was high tide and there was only a gentle surf but it was mesmerising. By 10 am it was actually too hot to stay there. I quickly drew into the wet paint, the stones in the foreground and placed some more colour on the canvas for some colour notes. This 120 x 50cm painting was finished and varnished in the studio. It is framed in a light white tray frame. Prints are available and I want the original to be part of my Spring exhibition, but the painting could be reserved .
